Chesterfield Canal
/About
The proposed restoration of the Chesterfield Canal highlights a series of sites with development potential at various locations along the Canal corridor. Sigma were asked by the Canal Trust to contribute to a Stage 1 outline business case looking at the feasibility of the sites for development and subsequently to look at masterplan proposals for a further 6 sites for a Stage 2 report. The sites demonstrated the potential for a variety of scale and uses from leisure and recreational facilities, residential accommodation, busniess / commercial, BNG receptor sites, to a boat lift and visitor centre. Each of the sites would contribute to an economic, health, living, heritage and ecological case for the restoration of the canal.

“The skilled team at Sigma did an excellent job in visualising and articulating a large variety of options for the development of the canal corridor – incorporating business, housing, leisure and environmental opportunities along a diverse 13.5 mile corridor. The resulting Masterplan is one that we are confident will help to realise the maximum benefits for the communities along the corridor and we are excited to bring it to fruition in the coming years” George Rogers - Development Manager - Chesterfield Canal Trust Ltd
